Song I Heard Today: U2 - New Years Day

 Today I heard U2 - New Years Day.  This song takes me back to seeing this video on MTV.  It takes me back to a moment when U2 sounded unlike everything else on the radio.  It cut an interesting space between Rock and Pop.  It had a European sound, but it was not club music.  It was clearly post punk, but it also had strong musical composition.  

 Now it also sounds like a long time ago.  I'm not sure that popular music still has that feeling it can change the world.  It was political without being alienating.  This was 40 year ago.  Forty years before this song Rock N Roll had not started yet.
