The Pipeline - Major League GMs.

A few weeks ago I read a couple of articles about Ruben Amaro Jr. and why there are only three former players who are Major League Baseball General Managers. I always find these articles incomplete, because they only look at part of the job. They look at who has the top job and that is each. All three of them started at lower jobs in the front office. They did not come in right from the Field to the GM's Office. It would be interesting to know how many formers players are in lower front office positions. To know why more former players are not GMs you need to know how many former players are being groomed to be GMs.
