San Jose and Diversity

There was an article in the Merc News about how the three big bay area cities are high on the list of the most diverse cities.  I've been living in San Jose for 20 years.  I wonder how this has impacted me.  By math I know this is true, but San Jose feels like a specific type of diverse.  I know other cities would feel like a different type of diverse.  On top of that I'm part of Silicon Valley, which is a sub-place on top of a real place.
