How are you planning on using the Large Hadron Collider?

The CERN Large Hadron Collider was used last night and the world was not destroyed. To be honest, I was not afraid of a tiny black hole swallowing the earth. That is a little too science fiction movie for me.

To be honest, I am not sure why the Large Hadron Collider is worth billions of dollars. I am not too worried either. I do not know if the research will have any practical application. I think it is important to fund science. Science is really our best chance to make life better. I hope that we learn something there that is more than just theoretical.
