Spitzer Alleges Payola in Lawsuit
In the Los Angeles Times I saw the headline: Spitzer Alleges Payola in Lawsuit. I hope that Spitzer nails their balls to the wall. I hope he can take down the whole damn system. I really hate Payola. It is just another way for record companies to keep control.
I know lots of my friends will tell me that payola will go away because of the long tail. I disagree with this. There will always be key taste makers. Paying them to play music is not good for anyone, but the record promoters.
In the end, I blame the radio stations for taking Payola. Taking Payola does not serve either of their customers. It does nothing for the listeners or the advertisers. I hope that Eliot Spitzer can put some of them a way for a long time.
