IM Standards
The other day Andrew and I were talking about open IM standards. Today I find a link for the IM Federation. I am not sure I feel about open IM standards. I agree with the idea that IM networks should allow third parties to make clients that can take advantage of their network. I like picking the program I use.
I am just not sure about sending messages to other networks. I really do not want to have to pay for IM. I am not sure he will be hosting these networks. If I can send messages from one network to another is there any way for companies to make money from IM.
Can anyone tell me what the business model of an Open IM Network would be?
