Postal Service, the Band, and the Mail

There is a New York Times article about how the band the Postal Service and the USPS has to come to an agreement about the trademark on the name Postal Service. Does that mean if I can up with a band name Word, I would have to come to an agreement with Microsoft. I am happy that the band has not had to give up their name. I am happy the USPS did not just squash them.

I think it is silly that this is the way we approach trademarks in this country. There is more then one postal service in this world. The USPS should not have control of this name. I think it hurts our culture in the long run.
