Bloggers v. Libel
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has decided that weblogs are not responsible for libel in the same way as traditional news media. For the most part I think this is a good decision. I think that freedom of speech is more important then libel protection. I am always worried that libel can be used to shut people up. I am also worried that people who write weblogs can print things without checking their sources. There are few things worst then printing the lies thinking they are the truth.
